After spending two days in Miami for the AHPBA annual conference our team made the trip north to Savannah, Georgia to attend the Southeastern Surgical Congress Annual Meeting. As we prepared for the start of the conference, Dr. Rosemurgy attended committee meetings as their past president. Behind the American College of Surgeons, the Southeastern Surgical Congress is the second largest organization made up of General Surgeons. Dr. Rosemurgy served as the immediate past president for the year 2012-2013. In addition, he has been on the Board of Governors for the American College of Surgeons for the past eight years, or two terms.

Dr. Sukharamwala presented, “Long Term Outcomes Favor Pylorus Preserving Pancreaticoduodenectomy over Duodenum Preserving Pancreatic Head Resection for Chronic Pancreatitis: A Meta-Analysis and Systematic Review.” Dr. Wood also presented on “Re-operative Heller Myotomy,” a presentation which received Gold Medal Recognition. This is a prestigious award granted to young surgeons who have exhibited excellence in research.
