Our Advanced Endoscopic Procedures
Your healing is our priority. That’s why our multidisciplinary team performs many advanced interventional endoscopy procedures to treat complex conditions efficiently. We’ll work with you to understand your diagnosis and create a treatment plan that best meets your needs.
- Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
-
A combination of endoscopy and fluoroscopy, ERCP is used as a diagnostic and treatment measure by our gastroenterologist team for:
- SpyGlass cholangioscopy
- Difficult bile-duct stones
- Altered anatomy (Billroth II, gastric bypass)
- Pancreatitis (recurrent, acute and chronic)
- Pancreatic stenting
- Failed ERCP
- Ampullectomy
- Sphincter of Oddi manometry
- Complex endoscopy procedures in infants and children
- Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)
-
A low-risk diagnostic procedure, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) is a combination of endoscopy and ultrasound that uses sound waves to create detailed images of the inside of the body.
We use EUS for:
- Fine-needle aspiration and biopsy (FNA/FNB)
- Pseudocyst drainage
- Pancreatic necrosis management
- Celiac plexus block/neurolysis
- Biliary and pancreatic drainage
- Fiducial placement
- Abdominal and pelvic abscess drainage
- Pancreatic cyst ablation
- Radiofrequency ablation
- EUS-liver biopsy
- EUS-guided creation of gastrojejunal anastomosis for gastric/duodenal obstruction
- Tissue Resection
-
In a tissue resection procedure, some or all of a tissue is surgically removed. Our team takes an endoscopic approach to tissue resection for:
- Resection of large polyps (precancerous and cancerous)
- Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR)
- Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD)
- Barrett’s ablation and endoscopic resection
- Endoscopic full-thickness resection (EFTR)
- Luminal Stenting
-
Luminal stenting involves placing stents through endoscopy. We are able to perform esophageal, gastroduodenal and colon luminal stenting.
- Balloon-Assisted Enteroscopy
-
Balloon enteroscopy is an exploratory procedure your doctor might recommend to evaluate and treat a condition affecting your gastrointestinal tract. A tiny camera and balloon are attached to a long, thin tube (an enteroscope) to assess your small intestine. The enteroscope can be passed down your esophagus or through your anus.
- Endoscopic Clipping and Suturing
-
Our expert surgeons can perform clipping and suturing endoscopically for fistulas and perforations.
- Endoscopic Management of Bleeding
-
Our experienced team uses endoscopic approaches to manage acute and chronic bleeding.
- Endoscopic Management of Bariatric Complications
-
Sometimes, complications arise from bariatric (weight-loss) surgery. We use endoscopic procedures to manage:
- Stomal reduction
- Pouch reduction
- Fistula management
- Endoscopy for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
-
To help manage IBD, we use endoscopic approaches, including:
- Chromoendoscopy
- Management of strictures and fistulas
- Pouchoscopy
- Management of leaks
- Third Space Endoscopy
-
In endoscopic procedures, the third space refers to the potential area inside the wall of the gastrointestinal tract — a submucosal layer of the organ wall. Some of the most common third space endoscopy procedures our team performs are:
- Peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM)
- Gastric peroral endoscopic myotomy (G-POEM)
- Submucosal tunneling endoscopic resection (STER)
- Additional Endoscopic Interventions
-
Our team also performs:
- Percutaneous endoscopic transgastric jejunostomy (PEG-J), or gastrostomy/jejunostomy feeding tube
- Endoscopic Zenker’s diverticulum treatment
- Endoscopic Duopa™ implant placement
- Endoscopy for Pancreatic, Bile Duct and Gallbladder Conditions
-
Gastroenterologists at AdventHealth Digestive Institute use ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound to diagnose and treat pancreas, gallbladder and bile duct diseases.

Expertise in Third Space Endoscopy
Third space endoscopy is an expanding field within endoscopic therapeutics and a minimally invasive alternative to treat various illnesses that were previously only treated with conventional surgery.
