This is a fascinating conference of robotics surgery. Surgeons from around the world, who are offering robotic operations, come together to discuss their experience and outcomes. Personally, I have not undertaken robotic operations because it requires at least 5 incisions. Currently, I am able to complete the same operations through a single small incision at the belly button and therefore, robotic surgery is not beneficial over single incision laparoscopic operations. However, my interest with robotics arose with regard to converting my non-laparoscopic maximally invasive procedures to robotics (e.g., for pancreatic resections). I was invited to present the single incision laparoscopic approach at this conference. Next year, I hope that with further technological development, I would be able to offer patients single incision robotic operations.
