HPB Cancer Summit: Series I Pancreatic Cancer

The HPB Summit: Series I Pancreatic Cancer was held on September 6, 2014 at Florida Hospital Tampa, and it was a huge success. Over 50 physicians from a multitude of disciplines attended, including Surgery, Radiology, Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine, Oncology, and Radiation Oncology. Presentations focused on the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer.

We were very grateful to our speakers for their informative presentations; speakers included Dr. Rosemurgy, Dr, Schiff, Dr. Nieto, Dr. Rizzardi, Dr. Murtagh, Dr. Harris, Dr. Sukharamwala, Dr. Wright, Dr. Greenberg, and Dr. Manax from Celgene. We discussed current methods for the diagnosis and palliation of pancreatic cancers, current chemotherapy and radiation therapies available for pancreatic cancer, and innovative surgical techniques. Dr. Sukharamwala and Dr. Manax touched on the importance of immunotherapy and clinical trials in pancreatic cancer treatments. The summit concluded with case presentations and expert advice from our multi-disciplinary panel. The next summit is being planned for the first week of December, and will focus on Esophageal Cancer.
