Dr. Sharona Ross and Heather Dereus appeared on In-Depth Report on Bay News 9 to discuss the upcoming Women in Surgery Symposium on February 26th-28th in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Ross spoke about the changes that have been made in surgery that have enabled more women to pursue their dreams of having a surgical career. It takes hard work and dedication, but it is possible to achieve one’s dreams.
Heather Dereus is an undergraduate student at University of Florida, who first shadowed Dr. Ross during a summer research program. Heather has been involved for the last two years and is now a planning committee member for the annual Women in Surgery Career Symposium.
