On Tuesday, September 29, 2015, Florida Hospital Tampa hosted a community seminar to discuss the diagnosis and treatment of reflux. Speakers included Sharona Ross, MD, FACS, Arthi Sanjeevi, MD, and Alexander Rosemurgy, MD, FACS, expert practitioners at Florida Hospital Tampa.
Reflux is a condition in which acid backs up in the stomach and causes irritation or inflammation of the esophagus. An estimated one in five Americans suffer from this condition, many without even realizing it. Florida Hospital Tampa’s seminar discussed common symptoms of reflux, including heartburn, as well as long-term risks that can result.
Our experts also discussed medication and treatment options for reflux, focusing on whether certain medical therapy is safe and the recommended amount of time medication should be administered.
