We held a community seminar for reflux awareness at Florida Hospital Tampa on Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Dr. Sharona Ross and Dr. Arthi Sanjeevi spoke to 80 members of our community about reflux. Specifically, they spoke about the symptoms, risk factors, diagnosis and treatment options for reflux. Dr. Sanjeevi spoke about the long term risk of esophageal cancer from long standing reflux. Patients are often placed on anti-reflux medications for periods of time much longer than is recommended by the FDA.

Dr. Sanjeevi also spoke on the specific testing that can be done to properly diagnose an individual with reflux. Dr. Ross discussed minimally invasive surgical options for reflux, and which options are best for each patient. The evening concluded with a question and answer session with Dr. Ross and Dr. Sanjeevi. They were able to answer a number of important questions from members of the community.
