We continue to reach new levels by exploring and promoting leading-edge therapy options, furthering scientific knowledge in the prevention, treatment, and management of cardiovascular disease. The Dr. Kiran C. Patel Research Institute is involved in numerous clinical trials in diverse areas such as stem cell therapy and regenerative medicine, cardiovascular care, cancer and digestive health.

Our highest priority is to care for your health and safety. That's why all clinical research conducted at AdventHealth Tampa is overseen by our Institutional Review Board (IRB), which is a federally approved IRB composed of doctors, nurses, pharmacists, scientists, ethicists and local community members.
Our IRB ensures the integrity of clinical trials, including an ethical approach and safety precautions to protect the welfare of patients volunteering to participate on research trials. Research at the Institute is conducted under standards of Good Clinical Practice provided by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines.

If you decide to take part in a research study, you do so as a volunteer. If you choose to participate, you have many important rights, which will be explained to you before you begin the study. There are many reasons to participate in a research study, including:

- To help scientists better understand how the human body and mind works.
It is important to note that our clinical studies only include treatments that meet or exceed today’s standard of care for the treatment of disease, but no one can completely predict the outcome of a research study or how it might affect you. The study may not help you personally, but your participation might result in information that will help others in the future.
